Rollerblading May Look Rockstar, But It Is Just My Routine

I’ve been trying to do a podcast on this topic but haven’t found the words. Perhaps, PERHAPS, putting this in writing first will aid my actual topic.

When SubwayCreatures once again featured my rollerblading on one leg, it hit me. The average person does not think my style of commuting is routine or ordinary. Yet, I do. How wild is that?! The average person sees me roll down a city sidewalk and thinks it’s the coolest shit they have ever seen, yet I don’t think I’m that cool. It’s just my way of life. The average person who sees me rollerblade on one leg doesn’t realize I need to break up the routine of the daily grind not by rollerblading but by directing my skate in directions that can actually break up what feels like the monotony of the day.

That is why I treasure any time I get to roll to an event in NYC during the week. That’s why I make a big deal of meeting impactful people of NYC or hang out with my buddies when I can. It helps me feel less routine and quite frankly less boring of a person. Yes I rollerblade on one leg and that is my dad and quite frankly God’s gift to have been given, yet I sometimes feel boring . Go figure.

I spice up my rollerblading by lifting crutches up off the ground and going at a speed not even mom would want to see (love ya mom!) , and to direct it to a Stadium, an Arena, a backstage door, and to direct my skate with my beloved fiancée , Gabby by my side, those days are when I feel less routine. Those are the moments I feel as cool as it must look to you the viewer .

Writing this, I feel a certain gratification rollerblading on just one leg as a matter of fact. I do see it from YOUR perspective as I write this. It is bad ass and I do appreciate it, no matter where my ‘Silver Stallion’ and I roll. So maybe it isn’t a positive thing I feel routine and just your average guy on wheels 95% of the year. But it keeps me humble and I am thankful for that as well.

I just always feel like the backpack-totin blue-collar man (love ya, Styx) wheelin around on one leg, but am always up to play the role of the rollerblading rockstar!
